Training

Scouting Safely is part of the Troop 507 plan...
The best way to stay safe in the outdoors is to avoid getting into trouble in the first place. That requires planning, training, leadership, good judgment, and accepting responsibility — in short, risk management.   Scouts BSAA  has nearly a century of experience conducting high-adventure outdoor activities in a manner that is safe for all participants. The following weblink will show you the resources and information that are provided to enable adult leaders and youth to help us maintain our impeccable safety record.  http://www.scouting.org/HealthandSafety.aspx

Training is made available to ALL adults and youth in Troop 507.
Some is required, if you are to chaperone events, such as Youth Protection.  Other training is just plain fun!  Please check out the training tab on this website to see some of the local training opportunities scheduled.  Mr. Shoffner encourages adults to attend monthly Roundtables, take certification courses on line and to attend the University of Scouting.  Assistant Scoutmasters are encouraged to take Scoutmaster Fundamentals.  Youth that are First Class or above in rank are STRONGLY encouraged to take National Youth Leadership training in the summer.   Spirit of Adventure Council training information for both youth and adults can be found at: www.scoutspirit.org/?s=training
Other supplemental training for adults can be found at: http://www.scouting.org/BoyScouts/TrainingModules.aspx
